Artificial neural networks employment in the prediction of evapotranspiration of greenhouse-grown sweet pepper AGRIAMBI
Pandorfi,Héliton; Bezerra,Alan C.; Atarassi,Roberto T.; Vieira,Frederico M. C.; Barbosa Filho,José A. D.; Guiselini,Cristiane.
ABSTRACT This study aimed to investigate the applicability of artificial neural networks (ANNs) in the prediction of evapotranspiration of sweet pepper cultivated in a greenhouse. The used data encompass the second crop cycle, from September 2013 to February 2014, constituting 135 days of daily meteorological data, referring to the following variables: temperature and relative air humidity, wind speed and solar radiation (input variables), as well as evapotranspiration (output variable), determined using data obtained by load-cell weighing lysimeter. The recorded data were divided into three sets for training, testing and validation. The ANN learning model recognized the evapotranspiration patterns with acceptable accuracy, with mean square error of 0.005,...

Avaliação dos comportamentos de aves poedeiras utilizando seqüência de imagens REA
Barbosa Filho,José A. D.; Silva,Iran J. O.; Silva,Marco A. N.; Silva,Caio J. M..

COMPUTATIONAL ANALYSIS OF LOAD VENTILATION IN BROILER TRANSPORT REA
Pinheiro,Daniel G.; Machado,Nítalo A. F.; Barbosa Filho,José A. D.; Silva,Iran J. O. Da.
ABSTRACT The characterization of ventilation during the transport of broiler chickens is essential for identifying and characterizing the potential problems of a convective heat flow and its effects on the welfare and the health and production conditions of the chickens. The objective of this study was to evaluate the ventilation patterns in two layout models of a live transport load: conventional (LC) and alternative (LA) with spacers placed between the chicken transport crates. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations and wind tunnel tests were performed using small scale models. The results showed that the use of spacers between crates (LA model) modified the ventilation patterns and increased the wind circulation between crates. However, wind...

ENVIRONMENTAL VARIABLES AND QUALITY TOOLS APPLIED TO THE OPERATOR OF AN AGRICULTURAL MICROTRACTOR REA
Estevam,Francisca N. de L.; Queiroz,Renata F. de; Damasceno,André F.; Silva,Rouverson P. da; Voltarelli,Murilo A.; Barbosa Filho,José A. D..
ABSTRACT Work in the field is characterized as unstructured because it is performed in inconvenient postures, without a fixed workstation, exposing the worker directly to the sun and other inclement weather. This may interfere in the health and the performance of the activity. The objective of this work was to characterize the environment of the agricultural microtractor operator, evaluating the thermal comfort during the activity in the municipality of Quixadá, CE. A model TC14 Super Yanmar Agritech microtractor, coupled to a rotary spindle, was used. For the measurements of the environmental variables, sensors and devices were installed on the operator and in the microtractor. The experimental design adopted the assumptions of statistical quality...

Photo-selective shade nets on the production and quality of sugarcane plantlets AGRIAMBI
Cordeiro Júnior,José J. F.; Pandorfi,Héliton; Barbosa Filho,José A. D.; Moraes,Alex S.; Almeida Neto,Luiz A. de; Guiselini,Cristiane.
ABSTRACT Brazil is the world’s largest producer of sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) and research aimed at propagation has promoted higher quality in production. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of the variation of micrometeorological elements on the survival and quality of pre-sprouted sugarcane plantlets. The study was carried out in a protected environment (UFRPE). Plantlets of the cultivar RB92579 were obtained by the technique of production of pre-sprouted plantlets. The protected environments were divided into four modules covered with low-density polyethylene plastic + photo-selective shade nets and one module without shade net. Micrometeorological data of global and photosynthetically active solar radiation, air...

Transport of broilers: load microclimate during Brazilian summer REA
Barbosa Filho,José A. D.; Queiroz,Marília L. V.; Brasil,Daniel de F.; Vieira,Frederico M. C.; Silva,Iran J. O..
The objective of this study was to characterize the microclimatic profile of broiler transport trucks under commercial conditions, in the summer, by continuous monitoring of environmental variables (temperature and air relative humidity). Three loads were monitored from farm to slaughterhouse, considering factors such as distance and day periods (morning, afternoon, and night). To obtain the profile of the environmental variables during journey, data loggers, that determined the microclimate to which birds were submitted, were installed in the trucks; data loggers also allowed visualization of the Enthalpy Comfort Index (ECI) so that load regions could be classified according to heat comfort limits for 6-week old poultries. Temperature, relative humidity,...
